Bin Cleaning has always presented OH&S compliance concerns to councils due to the manual nature of the bin cleaning process.  For this reason alone, the ability to perform this cleaning function in council maintained environments such as shopping strips has been a major concern, and providing a domestic service to ratepayers was unthinkable.    FreshBins has resolved these OH&S concerns.

The community is becoming more environmentally responsible in the way we live; the way we manufacture; the way we dispose-of and recycle the goods and products that we consume daily. Health, hygiene and sanitation considerations increasingly dominate our focus to ensure we maintain our cities, towns and communities in a hygienic state, free from disease and other health threats.

Governments and Councils are under continual pressure to meet these increasing health and hygiene standards. While much has been done to collect, dispose-of and recycle the refuse we create daily, little has been done to address the disease and contamination remaining in our bins after the refuse has been removed. These garbage bins become vile, smelly, disease ridden, maggot infested containers that attract flies and vermin.

To date the only way to clean these bins has been to manually wash the bins with chemicals, sanitisers, deodorisers and dump the waste down our drains, ultimately into our rivers. In addition the OH&S risks to operators cleaning these garbage bins has been a major deterrent to providing this as a community wide service

Councils and Government must also consider the environmental impact of releasing chemicals, pollutants, pathogens, toxins and other waste into our storm-water, sewers, land and river ecosystems. This disposal process has never been acceptable but there has not been an alternative.
